Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez was crowned the winner of the 2009 Miss Universe pageant last night. Check out gorgeous pictures of her below...

Dressed in a flowing red gown, 18-year-old Stefania Fernandez hugged the runner-up from the Dominican Republic and danced in joy as her victory was announced Sunday.

Last year's winner Dayana Mendoza whispered in her ear that she must have worked hard for Venezuela to win consecutively - the first time in the 57 year-old competition that a country has had back-to-back Miss Universe winners.

When asked during the questions-and-answers phase of the competition, Fernandez said she believed women have overcome obstacles such as hitting the proverbial glass ceiling. "I feel we have reached the level that men are at."

When asked later how she thought beauty contests promoted equality between men and women, Fernandez said they provided exposure to strong role models for the younger generation of girls to follow.

Stefania Fernandez is from the city of Merida, a city in western Venezuela - a South American country where hard-fought pageants are something of a national sport, with contestants widely dissected by the public and the media.

The President of her country, Hugo Chavez, did not meet last year's winner when she took home the crown, but Fernandez hopes he will change his mind in light of the historical back-to-back wins for the country.

Peristiwa yang terjadi di Mile , Timika tersebut cukup menggemparkan dan membuat suhu keamanan di Timikan makin memanas. Kita bisa melihat tayangan tentang Penembakan Bus karyawan Freeport tersebut di bawah ini.

TIMIKA - Penembakan kembali terjadi di areal PT Freeport Selasa (20/10/2009) pagi. Penembakan tersebut dilakukan oleh orang tak dikenal sekira pukul 09.00 WIT.

Informasi di lapangan, penembakan tersebut dilakukan saat iring-iringan bus yang mengangkut karyawan melintas di mile 42 areal freeport. Akibatnya tiga orang karyawan terluka.

Belum ada konfirmasi dari Kabid Humas Polda Papua Kombes Pol Agus Rianto mengenai penembakan yang terjadi tadi pagi. Sementara itu belum ada identitas resmi ketiga karyawan yang tertembak.

Dari informasi diperoleh, ketiganya terluka di bagian lengan, kaki, dan ginjal. Kini korban penembakan telah dirawat di Rumah Sakit Kula Kencana, Tembagapura.

Michael Jackson’s Death Officially Ruled Homicide

Michael Jackson’s death was caused by “acute Propofol intoxication,” the Los Angeles coroner declared today, officially ruling the star’s death at age 50 a homicide. “Benzodiazepine effect” was named as a contributing factor.
The drugs PROPOFOL and LORAZEPAM (Ativan) were found to be the primary drugs responsible for Mr. Jackson’s death. Other drugs detected were: Midazolam (Versed), Diazepam (Valium), Lidocaine (topical anesthetic) and Ephedrine (used to treat hypotension associated with anesthesia). In response to the coroner’s announcement, the Jackson family released a statement that reads, “The Jackson family again wishes to commend the actions of the Coroner, the LAPD and other law enforcement agencies, and looks forward to the day that justice can be served.” Earlier this week, a source told the AP the homicide ruling was imminent. The full contents of the coroner’s report will remain sealed pending the LAPD’s completion of their investigation into Jackson’s June 25th death. Dr. Conrad Murray, the personal physician concert promoter AEG hired to care for the star during his This Is It run of 50 concerts at London’s O2 Arena, remains the focus of the inquiry. As the Los Angeles Times reports, a homicide ruling means the victim died at the hands of another person and does not refer to pending criminal charges. However Dr. Murray has previously been identified as the subject of a manslaughter investigation. According to search warrants unsealed earlier this week, Murray admitted he had been administering Propofol to Jackson to relieve the star’s severe insomnia. In an attempt to wean the star from his usual 50 mg dose of the drug, Murray lowered the dosage to 25 mg and gave Jackson weaker sedatives. The day Jackson suffered cardiac arrest and died, Jackson demanded his “milk” as he referred to Propofol, and Murray reportedly administered the drug intravenously and left the room to make phone calls. When he returned, Murray told investigators, Jackson was unconscious. The doctor admitted to waiting at least 30 minutes before he alerted a bodyguard to call 911. Though he spoke with investigators in the days after Jackson’s death, Murray hasn’t submitted to any press interviews or made any public appearances. On August 18th he broke his silence in a YouTube video to thank his friends and supporters for encouraging calls and e-mails. The severity of Jackson’s dependence on a variety of prescription medications has come to light as the investigation into his death progresses. As Rolling Stone reported, Jackson acquired medicine by using a variety of aliases, including “Omar Arnold.” Jackson’s long history with prescriptions — which is often traced to the injuries incurred when he caught fire while shooting a 1984 Pepsi commercial — could make a manslaughter case more difficult to prove.

Jessica Simpson’s father has been blamed for ruining her romance with Tony Romo. American football star Tony – who split from Jessica last week – reportedly became increasingly frustrated with Joe Simpson’s involvement in his daughter’s life. FOX News reports: “Joe’s meddling ways most likely took its toll on the relationship, which is the reason why they split the first time 14 months ago. Joe promised he’d take a step back when the couple reunited but he was still too involved. “At one point Joe was even giving Tony football advice which doesn’t go down well.” Tony, who dumped Jessica the day before her 29th birthday, is believed to have been unhappy in the relationship for some time. A source said: “It was a long time coming, he hasn’t really been into her and the relationship for awhile, but stayed together because he didn’t want to look like a jerk for not having a better reason to break it off. “She is trying to save face by saying that it’s because of their busy schedules.” In March, it was alleged Joe – who is also Jessica’s manager – was jealous of Tony and believed he was having a negative influence on her career. A source said: “Joe now feels that Tony has become too much of a distraction for Jessica. Any free time she has, Jessica wants to spend with Tony. A former Christian artist who ditched the sacred sounds of CCM for a secular mix of sass and spunk, Katy Perry rose to prominence in summer 2008 by combining the cheeky, club-ready pop of Lily Allen with the commercial pop/rock of Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette. Born on October 25, 1984, in Santa Barbara, CA, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson grew up in a Christian household as the daughter of two pastors. Though she was not allowed to listen to secular music as a child, she later found herself captivated by Alanis Morissette and Freddie Mercury, having discovered Queen’s music during a slumber party. Religious music remained at the forefront, however, and Katy released a self-titled Christian album in 2001 under the name Katy Hudson. She would later abandon the genre (and her original surname) in favor of a pop career. At age 17, the burgeoning songwriter began working with hitmaker Glen Ballard, who had produced and co-written Alanis Morissette’s chart-topping Jagged Little Pill in 1995. Several years later, she teamed up with the Matrix, a Grammy-nominated production/songwriting team whose résumé included collaborations with Avril Lavigne, Shakira, and Korn. Tired of producing music for other artists, the Matrix had plans to record their own album with Perry serving as one of the group’s two singers. The project was ultimately shelved, but not before Perry appeared in a 2004 write-up by Blender magazine, who hailed her as “The Next Big Thing!” With the Matrix’s unreleased album sitting in the vaults at Sony Records, Perry went back to the drawing board and ultimately signed with Columbia in 2007. Her debut single, “UR So Gay,” generated a modest buzz with its mischievous lyrics and accompanying music video. However, “I Kissed a Girl” proved to be her true breakthrough single, topping the charts in 20 countries and pushing its accompanying album, 2008’s One of the Boys, into the Top Ten in America. Perry supported her debut by joining the Warped Tour that summer, where she toured alongside boyfriend Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes. Meanwhile, “Hot N Cold” became her second number one hit, and a third single (”Thinking of You,” one of album’s three songs written solely by Perry) cracked the Top 40. As 2008 gave way to 2009, Katy Perry emerged as one of the industry’s brightest pop icons, celebrated as much for her outsized behavior and outrageous fashion sense as the music itself.
